The German luxury automaker has announced its refreshed Q7 SUV, with V8 power to remain for SQ7 in 2024

Audi has revealed its updated 2024 Q7 and SQ7 large SUVs, with new technologies and trick LED light customisation among some of the new features.

Exact Australian pricing and specification is yet to be revealed, however Audi Australia has confirmed with Chasing Cars that its luxury SUV is set to launch locally during the second quarter of 2024.

Powertrains remain the same as the outgoing 2023 car and, in Europe, include 45 TDI,  50 TDI quattro, 55 TFSI and SQ7 V8 TFSI variants for the 2024 model year.

A full-electric E-Tron variant has not been confirmed as of yet, but could come in the model’s next generation. However, the electric Q8 E-Tron, which rides on the same platform as the Q7, is currently available in Australian showrooms.

Standard specification for the 2024 Audi Q7 will include the following:

  • Revised high-intensity headlights – HD Matrix LED headlights with laser light are optional
  • Revised exhaust tailpipe design
  • Grey contrast interior
  • New third-party apps including Spotify and Amazon Music
  • Updated Virtual Cockpit with new lane-change warning and traffic light info
  • 19-inch alloy wheels, gloss package, high beam assist, rear-view camera and parking assist (all available on base V6 engine cars)
  • Passive steel spring suspension (air suspension available as an option)
  • 48-volt mild hybrid electrical system
  • 780 litre boot

  • Two small electric motors with 1.5kW of power each

SQ7 to retain its V8 heart, no electric E-Tron model confirmed

The updated SQ7 performance version will retain its 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V8 engine that produces 373kW/770Nm and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system.

This is the same TFSI V8 engine found in cars such as the Porsche Panamera, Audi S8 limousine, Audi RS6 and even the wild Lamborghini Urus SUV

Unlike the related Q8 and SQ8, a full-electric E-Tron-branded version of the Q7 has not yet been confirmed.

A Q7 E-Tron does exist in other markets, however it’s a plug-in hybrid vehicle, rather than full-electric.
