2018 Audi Q5 3.0TDI on sale in Australia

Having been revealed almost two years ago, Audi Australia has finally completed its local Q5 range with the 2018 Audi Q5 3.0TDI now on sale. Sitting atop the regular non-S Q5 range, the 3.0TDI uses a 3.0-litre turbo diesel V6 engine which produces 210kW/620Nm – 30kW and 20Nm more than the previous Q5 3.0TDI and now matched to an eight-speed automatic.

Whilst the Q5 3.0TDI is more powerful than the previous model, it’s also more practical with bootspace ranging from 550-litres to 1,550-litres with the rear seats folded. Priced from $83,900 plus on-road costs, the first Q5 3.0TDI models will be delivered from September.

“The second-generation Audi Q5 has followed in the footsteps of its enormously successful predecessor,” said Shawn Ticehurst, Director of Product and Pricing at Audi Australia.

“The 2.0 TDI and TFSI four-cylinder engines have impressed owners with their versatility of use – a great balance between performance and efficiency. However, our customers have been clear in expressing their desire for an even more powerful model in the range, and so we are delighted to add the new 3.0 TDI V6 to our Q5 line-up to satisfy those customers.”

Sitting atop the regular Q5 range, the 3.0TDI uses a 3.0-litre turbo diesel V6 with 210kW of power and 620Nm of torque from just 1,500rpm. Matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission, Audi claims that the Q5 3.0TDI uses 6.3L/100km on a combined cycle. Mated to Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive system, the Q5 is claimed to hit 100km/h from rest in just 5.8 seconds.

Whilst the 3.0TDI engine sits at the top of the range, the 2018 Audi Q5 3.0TDI also offers more standard equipment than any other Q5. Based on the Q5 Sport specification, the 3.0TDI also adds more equipment for the $10,689 premium the company charges including a 360-degree parking camera, park assist, memory functionality for the driver’s seat with a powered steering column, heated front seats and auto-dimming and auto-folding mirrors with memory functionality linked to the driver’s seat.

Active safety equipment is also well taken care of, with Audi’s pre-sense city system with autonomous emergency braking and pedestrian detection up to 85km/h, blind-spot monitoring, rear traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with stop&go, turn assist, automatic high beam headlights, pre-sense rear, lane assist and Audi’s exit warning system.
