Lexus RZ 2026: Powerful 300kW F-Sport variant joins an upgraded electric SUV model range to rival Audi Q4 e-Tron and BMW iX3

New performance electric Lexus RZ arrives from $105,000 promising more power, performance tweaks and rival-beating pace

Lexus Australia has launched its most powerful and expensive RZ electric SUV variant to date, debuting a rapid new 550e F Sport grade from $105,000 before on-road costs.

The new F Sport will be Lexus’ most powerful RZ variant to date, developing a peak output of 300kW and completing the 0-100km/h sprint in a claimed 4.4 seconds. Power is sent to either the front, rear or both axles via a ‘DIRECT4’ all-wheel-drive system.

This makes the Lexus quicker and more powerful than the range-topping Audi Q4 e-Tron 55, which develops 250kW and sprints from 0-100km/h in 5.4 seconds, though the Lexus is pricier than the Q4’s $99,900 entry point.

The forthcoming BMW iX3 pips the Lexus on power with 345kW, but can’t match the Lexus’ pace, completing its 0-100km/h sprint in 4.9 seconds. That car is pegged to launch in July with a starting price of $109,900.

The RZ F Sport arrives a step above the existing $84,500 500e Luxury and $91,000 500e Sports Luxury, featuring a larger 77kWh battery and driving range of 437km. Rapid DC charging from 10-80 percent takes around 30 minutes, peaking at 150kW.

AC charging for all RZ grades now takes around 3.5 hours thanks to an improved charge peak of 22kW.

Existing RZ models also see improvements, now featuring a larger 74.7kWh battery and improved driving range of 460km WLTP (was 390km). Combined output lifts to 280kW in all-wheel drive guise (up 50kW), while also receiving improvements to body rigidity, noise reduction, safety systems and suspension spring rates.

Features unique to the F Sport include a yoke steering wheel with steer-by-wire, said to improve steering performance and feel, as well as paddle shifters with ‘interactive manual drive’ – a trick system which mimics the torque, engine braking and response of eight simulated gear ratios.

Cosmetic changes also separate the model from its siblings, featuring gloss black 20-inch alloy wheels, unique front and rear clip with lower lip spoiler/diffuser, painted brake calipers, rear spoiler and two-tone paint.

Later in 2026, Lexus will debut a newer range-topping RZ, known as the 600e F Sport. Pricing is still yet to be determined, though an output of 313kW, lowered ride height, large 21-inch wheels and carbon-fibre roof have already been confirmed.
