2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class pricing and specifications

Mercedes-Benz Australia has launched the mid-life update for the W205 C-Class, with the 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class now on sale. Priced from $63,400 plus on-road costs, the updated C-Class introduces new technology, new drivetrains and more standard equipment than previous C-Class models.

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class has also undergone a light styling treatment, with new lighting, new bumpers and a new grille now standard on every model. According to the company, over 6,500 parts have been changed. The upgraded Mercedes-Benz C-Class is now on sale in Australia to combat the new BMW 3 Series.

The entry level C200 now features a turbocharged 135kW/280Nm 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine with a 48V mild hybrid system called EQ Boost to provide boost in acceleration. According to Mercedes, the hybrid system can provide another 10kW/160Nm of boost in hard acceleration, though also allows the car to coast when not accelerating or braking. The system is charged by braking and in turn saves fuel, of which the car is rated at as little as 6.4L/100km.

Standard equipment on the C200 includes nine airbags, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, the company’s Artico man-made leather upholstery, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen with a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels and dual-zone climate control.

In the middle of the range is the C220d, which uses a new 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel that makes 143kW of power and 400Nm of torque – 18kW more than the previous model’s 2.1-litre diesel. The C220d uses a claimed 4.7L/100km.

The top of the non-AMG ranges is the C300, which uses a 190kW/370Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, and is matched to a nine-speed automatic transmission as standard. The C300 adds more equipment, including automatic evasive steering, lane keep assist, front cross traffic alert, full leather upholstery, 19-inch alloy wheels and keyless entry and start. The C300 uses 7.0L/100km of fuel on a combined cycle.

Above the C300 sits the performance AMG C43 and C63, which feature a biturbo V6 and biturbo V8 respectively. The C43 adds a number of AMG details including the steering wheel and heated sports seats, multibeam LED headlights, a 13-speaker Burmester sound system, a panoramic glass sunroof, a heads-up display, wireless phone charging, an analogue clock and AMG 19-inch alloy wheels. The AMG C43 uses as little as 9.4L/100km

The AMG C63 then adds a unique steering wheel, illuminated door sills, a digital TV tuner, Nappa leather upholstery, an electronic rear differential lock, 19-inch alloy wheels in matte black and high performance brakes with red calipers. Fuel consumption for the C63 models is listed as low as 10.4L/100km.
