Latest Mini special edition doubles down on British-built with Union Jacks galore
Mini has unveiled its latest special edition at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Festooned in Union Jacks, The Mini Cooper Oxford Edition is based on the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol Cooper S three-door. Only 40 units are coming to Australia; 20 in Chilli Red II and the remainder in pictured Indigo Sunset Blue with pricing yet to be confirmed.
The Oxford Edition name comes from Mini’s UK production plant, where the new modern Mini has been manufactured for 25 years.
Nodding to heritage, the Oxford Edition features a Union Jack roof, red/white body stripes, white mirror caps and 18-inch ‘Slide Spoke’ alloy wheels with Union Jack-themed centre caps and valve covers.
Inside, there are different door sill trims, uniquely detailed floor mats and a flag printed on the steering wheel’s fabric third, centre spoke.
Full details of the Oxford Edition are yet to be detailed but it looks to be based on the Cooper S Classic trim. This means black exterior trim, manually-adjustable seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and 240mm circular OLED touchscreen which serves as the command centre.
It also means a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 150kW and 300Nm, which drives the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and open differential.
The small sporty hatch is a rival for the outgoing Hyundai i20 N, Volkswagen Polo GTI and the all-electric Abarth 500e though it is dearer than those pocket rockets.
The list price of the Cooper S Classic is $50,490 before on-road costs — expect the Oxford Edition to command a small premium around $1500-$3000. For reference, the Paul Smith Edition package adds $2000 to the price of the Mini Cooper SE.
Mini Oxford Editions will arrive in Australia in Q4 2026, with pricing revealed closer to their arrival date.
