A $22,990 starting price takes aim at the popular Chery Tiggo 4 and MG ZS
Relatively fresh Chinese brand GAC is hoping to steal small-SUV sales from compatriots MG and Chery with ultra-sharp pricing for its Emzoom.
GAC introduced a new entry-level model called the Premium in August, adding to the $26,990 Emzoom Luxury released earlier in 2026.

The Emzoom Premium’s price is available only until 30th September. GAC told Chasing Cars it wasn’t yet able to confirm what pricing would be after this date.
The Emzoom Premium sits below the existing Emzoom Luxury, and until 30 September will retail for $22,990 driveaway, $4000 less than the already-cheap Luxury. Dealerships will first receive the Premium in early September and can be ordered now.
For now, that price matches the starting point for the rival MG ZS. The Kia Picanto micro car and MG3 hatchback are the only cars currently cheaper in Australia.
The Emzoom Premium is mechanically identical to the Luxury, featuring a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission driving the front wheels.
The 125kW and 270Nm is rated to older Euro 5 emissions standards.
GAC launched the Emzoom Luxury with generous standard equipment. While the Premium saves $4000, it loses the following features:
The Emzoom Premium still includes adaptive cruise control, a reversing camera, automatic air conditioning, and two things that can’t always be taken for granted: a spare wheel and rear-cabin air vents.
The 14.6-inch central touchscreen remains, complete with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
