Polestar 4 SUV launching September, adding wagon space and practicality to the Swedish medium electric ‘4’ formula

Single- and dual-motor versions arriving in Q4, promising up to 630km of range

As reported by Chasing Cars four months ago, Swedish electric carmaker Polestar has revealed its Polestar 4 SUV overnight, adding a wagon body style as a medium-segment offering.

The SUV will sit alongside the Polestar 4 Coupe, often referred to as a ‘coupe-SUV’, to broaden the marque’s model footprint.

Gothenburg has confirmed that the Polestar 4 SUV will be offered with a choice of either single Rear Motor and Dual Motor powertrains, and will inherit many of the updates recently announced for the MY27 versions of the coupe.

The Rear Motor version is positioned as the long-range choice, with its maker claiming up to 630 kilometres WLTP from a single charge.

Meanwhile, the Dual-Motor fits the same 400kW/686Nm powertrain credentials already confirmed for the ‘4’ for its 2027 update. Both versions sit on 400-volt architecture.

Elsewhere, the Polestar 4 SUV also adopts the “returned chassis dynamics” of its updated slant-back stablemate, which includes high-capacity passive dampers, new spring rates and revised anti-roll bar specs.

While detailed specifications are yet to be revealed, it is expected the new wagon will largely port over the coupes’ features set and grade walk, the latter priced locally starting from $78,500 for the Rear Motor, and the where the lineup tops out at $100,050 in Dual Motor Performance guise.

Unlike some models in the Polestar lineup, the new medium-sized SUV is being manufactured in Busan, South Korea, rather than in China or North America.

Set for global release on September 2, it’s expected that the SUV will join the updated MY27 coupe twin in Australian showrooms in the fourth quarter this year.
