2017 Mercedes-Benz E220d All Terrain pricing and specifications

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E220d All Terrain pricing and specifications have been announced ahead of the car’s local arrival, priced $17,000 more than the E220d sedan. The E220d All Terrain is the only wagon variant of the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class that Australia will receive, with sales of the normal wagon not strong enough to sell it here.

Priced from $109,900 plus on-road costs, the E-Class All Terrain is priced in between its main rivals, the Volvo V90 Cross Country (from $99,900) and the Audi A6 Allroad ($112,885), though significantly more than other wagon SUVs including the Subaru Outback, Skoda Octavia Scout, Volkswagen Passat Alltrack and forthcoming Holden Commodore Tourer, which launches in early 2018.

The Australian-spec 2017 Mercedes-Benz E220d All Terrain is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel producing a healthy 143kW of power and 400Nm of torque, mated to Mercedes-Benz’s 4MATIC all-wheel drive system and its 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic. The 0-100km/h sprint is a claimed 8.0 seconds.

Mercedes-Benz claims the 2017 E220d All Terrain will return a combined 5.2L/100km, which combined with a 57-litre fuel tank will comfortably return over 1,000km to a full tank.

Standard equipment for the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E220d All Terrain includes AIR BODY CONTROL air suspension which can raise the car a further 35mm under 35km/h for off-road duties, leather upholstery, Driver Assistance Package Plus, LED headlights, 20-inch alloy wheels, dual 12.3-inch driver and infotainment displays, underbody protection and chrome roof rails.

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E220d All Terrain is the only wagon variant that Australia will receive of the new E-Class, and is distinguishable from overseas E-Class wagons by a 29mm-higher ride height, black body cladding around the lower bumpers and wheel arches, satin chrome front and rear skid plates and a louvre-style front grille.

Regardless of being an All Terrain or not, the E-Class wagon is an immensely practical car, with a 640-litre boot space, reclining 40/20/40-split rear seats. With the rear seats folded, a total of 1,820-litres is available.
