Geely New Models Coming: 830kW Battleship 700, Camry-rivalling Emgrand L EM-i, and Monjaro EM-i confirmed

Geely is on a roll, with compact affordable models that are selling strongly, including the EX2, EX5 and Starray EM-i. 

Next year, the brand will expand its offering dramatically with a sensible sedan in the Emgrand L EM-i to fight the Toyota Camry and a large five-seat SUV known as the Monjaro EM-i that will take on the BYD Sealion 8. 

The third addition is a wild 830kW plug-in hybrid 4WD known as the Battleship 700 (or Galaxy Cruiser in China) with Land Rover Defender design cues that will be priced to compete with the Toyota Prado and Denza B8. 

Geely Emgrand L EM-i

The Emgrand is Geely’s answer to the Toyota Camry and BYD Seal 6, with a sleek sedan silhouette and electrified powertrain. 

Unlike the Emgrand founder Tom Baker drove, the L packs more punch — Geely says over 180kW and 250Nm — with around 80 kilometres of electric-only range and more than 1000km of combined driving range. 

A large 14.6-inch multimedia touchscreen, eight-speaker sound system, power-adjust front seats, black vinyl upholstery and 500-litre boot are among the 4.79-metre long sedan’s offerings. 

Pricing is not confirmed, though it will need to be around $40,000 to compete with cost-effective rivals. It will arrive in Australian dealers in the first half of 2027. 

Geely Monjaro EM-i

Also arriving in the first half of 2027 is the Geely Monjaro EM-i. Previously expected to be a plugless hybrid, it’s coming in plug-in guise only next year offering front- or all-wheel-drive configurations with up to 170km of electric range and 1137km combined driving range. 

Underneath this Skoda Kodiaq, Mitsubishi Outlander and BYD Sealion 8 rival are adaptive dampers tuned by Geely Europe — though inside it will only seat five. 

There are some luxurious cabin features, including a 15.6-inch multimedia touchscreen, 16-speaker Flyme sound system, heated/cooled and massaging front seats, imitation suede cabin trim, 360-degree camera and a power tailgate. 

Geely has yet to announce pricing for the Monjaro, however it’s likely to be competitive, possibly from mid-$55K — though this is not confirmed. 

Geely Battleship 700

Known as the Galaxy Cruiser in its China home market where it just went on sale, this will be Geely’s flagship: its biggest, most powerful and most luxurious model in Australia. 

And yet, its A$80,000 equivalent price in China makes it as affordable as a Toyota Prado or Denza B8. Expect that to climb somewhat for Australia, but the top-spec 4WD version with a locking rear differential, three electric motors and 830kW could cost around $100K. 

Inside there’s leather everywhere, a huge touchscreen, physical switches, heated and cooled box, tray tables in the back seat, passenger display and more., 

There’s also a 47kWh battery that’s expected to give 170km of electric-only range, plus active height-adjustable air suspension. It’ll even spin around on the spot in a wild manoeuvre Geely calls a ‘Waltz Turn’, similar to the Yangwang U8’s Tank Turn.
