Nissan Patrol 2027: Y63 production kicks off for Australian-bound 4×4

More than a year after it was available in other parts of the world, the new-generation Patrol is finally on its way Down Under

Nissan Australia has confirmed its first batch of Y63 Patrols have rolled off the assembly line in Japan and will soon head here, where the 4×4 is due to go on sale in the first quarter of 2027.

The new Patrol is produced at Nissan Shatai Kyushu plant, which also makes the more luxurious Infiniti QX80 SUV not offered in Australia.

Nissan says around 2500 people registered their interest in the new Patrol, converting to around 500 vehicles sold already at dealerships, with around 70 percent of those consisting of the top-spec Ti-L Reserve and Pro-4X.

The Y63 Patrol was first unveiled globally two years ago, meaning it’s taken some time for it to finally make its way to Australia, but we are still the first right-hook market to receive the new generation.

The new-gen Patrol does away with the 298kW/560Nm 5.6L naturally aspirated V8 engine and seven-speed automatic combo for a 317kW / 700Nm twin-turbo 3.5L V6 that drives all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The new frame underpinning the new Patrol is said to offer 40 percent greater torsional rigidity than the Y62, primarily thanks to a greater use of high-strength steel.
