Alfa Romeo Cuorerosso fastback concept points to future Giulia and other models

Italian brand Alfa Romeo has had its fair share of new chapters and the latest comes in the vision of a striking 2+2 fastback called the Cuorerosso.

Alfa describes the Cuorerosso – which combines the Italian words for ‘heart’ and ‘red – as a manifesto to showcase its direction in the areas of style, function and technology.

The sleek four-door is 4.7 metres long, similar in length to the current Giulia midsize sedan that is now 11 years old and well overdue for replacement.

The related Stelvio midsize SUV is also about a decade old, though spy images of the next-generation model have been spotted testing.

Alfa says future models will be underpinned by “multi-energy architectures”, meaning the brand will offer various powertrains both electric and combustion in nature – separate but also combined for hybrid offerings.

Alfa says it will also continue to create cars for people who love to drive.

‘Necessary Beauty’ is the name of the design philosophy showcased by the Cuorerosso, with the fastback finished in Liquid Ink Red.

Alfa Romeo sales continue to struggle in Australia despite the relatively recent introduction of compact models like the Junior and Tonale.
