LDV T60 Max 2023: more standard features, seven-year warranty for value-focused ute

A longer warranty and even more standard features are among the highlight changes for LDV’s popular ute

LDV has bolstered the list of features on its value-focused T60 Max ute, with the Chinese-built workhorse now packing an additional $5000 worth of kit.

The debut of the MY23 model range will also see the introduction of a seven-year/200,000km warranty making LDV one of only a few brands alongside Kia, MG and Skoda to offer such a long warranty, while Mitsubishi offers a conditional 10-year/200,000km deal.

As before, the range kicks off with the T60 Max Pro grade followed by the Luxe and a new extended-tray version known as the Mega Tub, with the pricing split for ABN holders and private buyers.

The range kicks off at $41,042 (before on-road costs) for the Max Pro with a manual transmission, with ABN buyers quoted a significantly lower driveaway price of $38,990.

LDV says the MY23 updates add an additional $2600 worth of equipment to the Pro and over $5000 to the Luxe – though prices have increased by around $5000 for both private and ABN buyers since the T60 Max was launched in late 2021.

LDV’s highlight feature for the T60 Max is its Toyota Hilux-beating power outputs of 160kW and 500Nm of torque from the in-house designed and built 2.0-litre twin-turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine.

Buyers are offered the choice of either a six-speed manual or ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission and, unlike other budget ute offerings, a selectable four-wheel-drive system is fitted as standard.

Towing and payload

LDV splits the T60 Max’s line-up into two main grades not only for the benefit of pricing, but also purpose.

The entry-level Pro grade is equipped with more heavy duty rear left-spring suspension capable of carrying 935kg in the tray, while the more lifestyle-targeted Luxe is rated for 750kg.

Regardless of grade, all variants are rated to tow 3.0-tonnes with a braked trailer.

What’s new for 2023?

LDV has updated the T60 Max with a rangeof extras including side steps, a chrome sports bar and roof rails as standard across the lineup, building on other external equipment such as a spray-in bedliner and 17-inch alloy wheels.

The Luxe grade also adds 19-inch blak alloy wheels for 2023, along with black wheel arches and side steps with a unique sailplane sports bar – also in black.

Inside, buyers will appreciate the inclusion of a standard leather steering wheel with paddle shifters (in automatic models), adding to existing equipment such as a six-speaker stereo system and a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay.

As standard, T60 Max Pro buyers receive six-way manual adjustment for the driver and four-way manual adjustment for the front passenger matched with cloth upholstery plus safety equipment such as six airbags, hill-descent control and rear parking sensors.

Stepping up the Luxe adds a rear locking differential, leather upholstery with six-way power adjustment and heated seats for those in the front row. Safety is also bolstered with the inclusion of a 360-degree camera and lane departure warning – though it’s notable that the T60 Max remains one of the few utes on sale without AEB.
