Builder of Australia’s best-selling vehicles confirms warranty extension — provided you service in-house
Ford Australia today announced it will extend its standard warranty period to seven years and unlimited kilometres from 1 September 2026.
Like the previous five-year unlimited kilometre guarantee, the seven-year warranty covers private and commercial use.
Ford’s longer warranty matches Kia, MG, GWM and others on time and distance, going beyond what has become the industry standard five-year coverage.
Unlike Kia, though, Ford’s longer seven-year warranty is conditional on servicing at a Ford dealer. If you choose not to, this defaults to the previous five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, which are conditions mirroring Hyundai Australia’s established seven-year warranty T&Cs.
This is similar to Mitsubishi and Nissan, both of which offer conditional 10-year warranties.
The updated warranty applies to every new Ford vehicle including the Ranger, Everest, Mustang, Mustang Mach-e and Transit range, though will not be backdated for those who already own Ford vehicles.
Ford was Australia’s second biggest new-car brand behind Toyota and ahead of Mazda, though sales last month were eighth, down nearly 40 percent. In 2025, Ford was also the most recalled new car brand in Australia (and the world).
Greg Davidson, director of Ford customer service division, told media the longer warranty is “a strong statement to our customers that we have their backs, now for even longer.
“This is about deepening trust and loyalty with our customers and it gives Ford owners real confidence. Not just in the vehicle they bought, but the brand they bought into,” Davidson said.
