Iconic 4WD gets a special edition: Suzuki Jimny Rhino 2026 teased before Australian release

In a tongue-in-cheek press release, Suzuki Australia has teased the upcoming arrival of a special edition Jimny Rhino 4WD. 

While the material cutely parodies a wildlife documentary, the vehicle itself will be a real take on Suzuki’s most popular model. No timing, pricing, or details have been confirmed yet. 

The Rhino name has never been used in Australia though it has appeared on overseas Jimny variants, mainly in South-East Asian markets including Malaysia and the Philippines. 

Those vehicles get unique decals, mud flaps, bumper garnishes and a chrome grille but the Aussie version looks a little different. 

From the murky black and white image, we can see unique alloy wheels with black-and-silver design, different decals to overseas market models, and front mud flaps. 

The vehicle pictured is also a Jimny XL five-door, rather than the shower wheelbase three-door, plus it’s pictured in Kinetic Yellow. 

The Rhino is almost certain to continue with the 1.5-litre petrol four-cylinder engine producing 75kW and 130Nm, with selectable 4WD and low-range transfer case. A five-speed manual or four-speed automatic with overdrive are offered. 

Don’t expect any power or GVM upgrades for the special edition, but if the popularity of the Heritage Edition from 2024 proves anything, it’s likely fans will get onboard. Pricing is sure to start north of the regular XL’s $40,490 driveaway ask. 

“The Jimny community in Australia is thriving so yes, news of any new Jimny is hugely exciting,” said Suzuki Australia GM Michael Pachota.

“We’d obviously love to announce a completely new Jimny, particularly one that, if the reports are accurate, seems to be the perfect manifestation of the shared spirit of two magnificent beasts: Jimnys and rhinos. But we can’t confirm anything at this stage,” he added.
