Volkswagen announces most expensive Golf R 333 Limited Edition priced at AUD$125,000

Mega-buck 333 Limited Edition version of the Volkswagen Golf R will get a power boost up to 245kW and a louder exhaust system

After sending out a selection of teaser images, Volkswagen has revealed its Golf R 333 Limited Edition variant.

It’s priced from a frankly eye-watering €76,410 in Germany, or the equivalent of AUD$125,457, and you guessed it, only 333 units will be built for the world.

Power has been bumped up a touch, with the 2.0-litre EA888 turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine now sitting at 245kW, rather than the standard 235kW. Torque sits at 420Nm

Volkswagen says the special edition Golf R can be ordered at German dealerships from June 2, with deliveries to take place from October 2023 onwards.

The Volkswagen Golf R 333 Limited Edition has not been confirmed for the Australian market, however the new Golf R 20 Years will be coming to Australia, priced from $77,490 before on-road costs.

What differentiates the 333 Limited Edition from a standard Golf R?

Other than a power boost, the upcoming Golf R 333 Limited Edition comes with unique Lime Yellow Metallic paintwork. Special decal stickers and a black painted roof will also be standard.

Also featured on the Limited Edition car will be a Akrapovic sports exhaust system for extra theatre, plus semi-slick tyres, 19-inch Estoril alloy wheels and a new top speed limit of 270km/h.

Topping off the 333 Limited Edition will be a numbered interior badge.
