Updated compact SUV will bring revised styling, two-tone exterior option, and a new, sportier range-topper
The Corolla Cross small SUV will become the latest Toyota to feature a Gazoo Racing (GR) Sport variant as its flagship when an updated line-up arrives in the second half of 2025.
Toyota’s popular SUV will also gain revised styling and new colour options as part of its first major update since being released in 2022.
The Corolla Cross GR Sport will feature a sportier steering and suspension tune plus a Sport drive mode over regular versions, and will be visually distinguished in the range by 19-inch ‘GR Sport’ dark-alloy wheels and a more aggressive-looking front bumper design with mesh grille.
Inside, the cabin adopts red stitching for various sections, including the seats, and a steering wheel that also features a GR Sport logo.
There will otherwise be minimal, if any, changes for the Corolla Cross’s cabin.
Toyota’s ‘GR Sport’ badge continues to represent relatively minor mechanical differences, with the Corolla Cross range-topper set to use the same 112kW/190kW petrol-electric hybrid drivetrain as other variants.
Corolla Cross is hybrid only now, having launched also with a petrol engine alternative.
The Corolla Cross GR Sport will be offered with all-wheel drive only, with GXL and Atmos grades – if names not changed – continuing to offer the choice of 2WD (front-drive) or AWD, and the base GX restricted to 2WD.
A range of new colours includes the option of a two-tone exterior based around a black roof – for specific variants/colours.
The Corolla Cross becomes the fifth Toyota to offer a GR Sport variant, joining the HiLux, LandCruiser 300, and two other compact SUVs, the Yaris Cross and C-HR.
Toyota says pricing and further details will be released later this year. The Corolla Cross currently starts from about $40,500 drive-away.
