Wicked Hyundai Ioniq 6 N to launch in a single trim grade with wealth of performance focused options
Hyundai Australia has priced its all-paw Ioniq 6 N performance sedan from $115,000 before on-road costs, positioning as a joint-flagship alongside the identically priced Ioniq 5 N performance SUV.
Korea’s latest ‘N’ flagship sedan will provide Hyundai with an answer to fellow performance models including the $80,900 Tesla Model 3 Performance, $191,200 Porsche Taycan AWD, and $85,080 Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor with optional Performance package.
With just one grade, the Ioniq 6 N easily exceeds pricing for its close relatives Kia EV6 GT, which starts from $99,660 and produces 430kW/740Nm, and the once range-topping Ioniq 6 Epiq DSM AWD, which remains at $86,500 and produces 239kW/605Nm.
As previously reported by Chasing Cars, where rivals struggle to crack 400kW (with the exception of Tesla’s 461kW/730Nm ‘3), Hyundai’s new performance sedan boasts 448kW and 740Nm — an outrageous figure which is increased to 478kW/770Nm with ‘N Grin Boost’ activated.
The 30kW/30Nm ‘N’ kick-in-the-pants lasts for up to ten seconds before entering a ten-second cooldown. During this time, the Ioniq 6 N can sprint from 0-100km/h in a claimed 3.2 seconds.
This figure is no doubt resultant of standard-equipped all-wheel drive, Hyundai N-spec Pirelli P-Zero 5 tyres, ‘N’ launch control, and sophisticated aerodynamics, chiefly, a ‘swan-neck’ rear wing and chunky wider fenders.
Standard equipment to further the Ioniq 6 N’s track capabilities include adaptive electric dampers, lower ride height, tweaked suspension and steering system, stiffer rear anti-roll bar, improved body rigidity, and an electro-mechanical torque-vectoring limited-slip differential (e-LSD).
The Ioniq 6 N additionally gains a revised 84kW battery for internal temperature optimisation. Both vehicles are built on 800-volt E-GMP electronic architecture.
Combined driving range is quoted at 478km, while rapid DC charging from 10 to 80-percent is penned to take around 18 minutes, peaking at 350kW. AC charging from empty to full should complete in eight hours, peaking at 10.5kW.
The Ioniq 6 N is a whisker larger than the current range topping Ioniq 6 Epiq. That car measures 4855mm long, 1880mm wide, and 1495mm tall, where the ‘N’ adds 80mm in overall length and 60mm in width, while also increasing its wheelbase from 2950mm to 2965mm.
Additional N-specific features include illuminated ‘N’ badging, and new signature Performance Blue Pearl paint, while inside, the N gains a performance ‘N’ steering wheel, driver knee padding for harsh cornering, and bucket seats with a blend of Alcantara and leather appointed upholstery.
The Ioniq 6 N joins a growing list of performance electric vehicles which simulate mechanical gear changing, as well as piping artificial engine sound into the cabin. Artificial “engine” sound can be changed by the driver, from “ignition” to “evolution” or “lightspeed”.
Like all ‘N’ cars, the Ioniq 6 N allows for non-competitive track use without voiding its five-year, unlimited-kilometre dealer warranty. This warranty extends to seven years if all servicing is completed at a recognised Hyundai service centre, with the exception of brake pads and tyres, which can be replaced elsewhere.
For those wanting more, Hyundai also offers a string of performance-focused options, headlined by optional 20-inch forged, lightweight forged alloy wheels priced from $1,096.58 per rim. The wheels save 1.5kg per corner over the standard offering.
A colossal carbonfibre rear wing spoiler is also offered from $7288.50. It adds up to eight degrees of positive or negative adjustment, and increases downforce from a standard 100kgf to up to 305kgf at the vehicle top speed of 257km/h.

Optioning all of the above performance items totals to $24,147.76, with fitment costing an additional $600. Hyundai also offers a no-cost sunroof delete geared toward taller drivers.
Like all Ioniq 6 models, the N will be sold with a comprehensive suite of driver safety features, as well as drive modes and an exclusive, revised ‘N Drift’ mode.
