Skoda Kodiaq SUV interior and boot revealed in pictures

The 2017 Skoda Kodiaq will be unveiled this week in Berlin, after its planned debut at the Paris Motor Show was brought forward. In a final teaser before we see the full car, Skoda have dropped several pictures of the car’s interior.

The Kodiaq will be the first SUV for Volkswagen’s Czech sub-brand, and on arrival in Australia, it will fill an important gap in Skoda’s local lineup. The Kodiaq will compete with popular large SUVs like the Toyota Kluger and Mazda CX-9.

The 4.7-metre long Kodiaq won’t be the largest of the class externally, but Skoda’s engineers have successfully maximised interior practicality.

An enormous boot will be expandable from 720 to 2,065 litres, which will make the Kodiaq a practical option for families. Both five- and seven-seat configurations will be available.

Until the seven-seat Tiguan arrives next year, that will make the Kodiaq the only seven-seat Volkswagen Group SUV in Australia.

Additionally, the Kodiaq reveals a change in direction for Skoda’s interior styling.

Gone is the triple-layer designs of the Superb and Octavia – the Kodiaq introduces a higher-mounted touchscreen closer to the driver’s eye line and flanked by air vents.

Both the screen and the buttons appear to be under a glass coating not unlike the design of the Subaru Starlink infotainment system.

We’ll see the full Kodiaq bodywork and interior unveiled on the evening of the 1st September Australian time. Plus, Chasing Cars will experience the car in person at the Paris Motor Show.
