The all-electric coupe SUV is promised to be Polestar’s fastest production car yet
Polestar has confirmed that it will reveal the Polestar 4 SUV at the Shanghai Auto Show on April 18.
Though just a simple shot of the vehicle’s headlight was posted online, the Swedish brand confirmed that the 4 will be a coupe SUV.
As an all-electric coupe SUV, it’s likely that the Polestar 4 will face direct competition from the Tesla Model Y, Ford Mustang Mach-E, and the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
According to the Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath, the Polestar 4 is more than just a variant of another model
“Polestar 4 is not simply a modified version of our first SUV. Instead, we reconsidered the entire design to create a new breed of SUV coupé,” he said.
Last month, Ingenlath posted a picture on Twitter showing a trio of Polestar vehicles testing in snowy conditions. It’s likely that the camouflaged SUV in the centre is the Polestar 4, while the larger vehicle on the right is the inbound Polestar 5
The brief release also mentioned that the Polestar 4 would be the brand’s fastest production car to date, though it’s unclear if that’s in terms of out-right top speed or just how fast it is around a track.
Polestar is yet to reveal any specific details of the 4, but given that Ingenlath mentioned that it isn’t just a modified version of the Polestar 3, it could use a different version of the SPA2 platform.
