2019 BMW X4 Australian pricing and specifications

After initially being revealed in February, BMW Australia have announced local pricing and specifications for their new X4 coupe SUV. Now in its second generation, the 2019 BMW X4 has been restyled and now sits on a new platform of which it shares it with its more traditional X3 sibling.

The X4 is also now better equipped than before, and is offered in four main specification points ranging from a 2.0-litre turbo petrol xDrive20i to a 265kW 3.0-litre turbocharged inline six-cylinder M40i. Pricing starts from $76,900 plus on-road costs and the first X4s will be in dealerships in the third quarter of this year.

“Following on from the initial success of the all new BMW X3 in the market, we are excited to bring the all new 2019 BMW X4 Sports Activity Coupe to Australia,” said BMW Group Australia CEO, Vikram Pawah.

“From the well-equipped X4 xDrive20i through to the first ever X4 M40i M Performance model, the X4 range brings strong dynamics, efficiency and performance to the expanding SAC space,” he said.

Priced from $76,900 plus on-road costs, the entry level X4 xDrive20i is powered by a 135kW/290Nm 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, which is – like the rest of the range – matched to BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Standard equipment has grown with the new model, with 19-inch alloy wheels, forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, a heads-up display, the M Sport Package with sports seats and exterior details, half cloth/leather upholstery, tri-zone climate control, an automatic tailgate, BMW’s iDrive 6 infotainment system with a 10.25-inch touchscreen and inbuilt satellite navigation, DAB+ digital radio, LED headlights and tailights and a 360-degree parking camera.

Available for $79,900 plus on-road costs is the X4 xDrive20d ($79,900), which features a 140kW/400Nm 2.0-litre turbo diesel and offers the same equipment list as the xDrive20i.

Above the xDrive20i and 20d sits the X4 xDrive30i ($83,900) , which uses a higher-output 185kW/350Nm version of the 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine in the xDrive20i. It also adds more equipment, with full leather upholstery, keyless entry and start, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, M Sport brakes, adaptive cruise control, front cross traffic alert, lane keep assist, adaptive LED headlights with adaptive high beam and 20-inch alloy wheels.

The highest spec 2019 BMW X4 you’ll be able to buy for now is the X4 M40i ($109,900 plus on-road costs), which is the performance model (at least until a full-fat X4 M arrives). It’s equipped with a 265kW/500Nm 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder petrol engine, as well as adaptive M Sport suspension, an M Sport differential, 21-inch M Sport wheels, a panoramic glass roof, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, ambient lighting, heated front seats, front lumbar adjustment and a faux leather instrument panel.

Being a BMW, a number of option packages are available for the X4 including a $2,200 Innovations Package with keyless entry/start, automatic high beam, adaptive LED headlights, wireless phone charging and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display. A Comfort Package ($2,800) adds woodgrain trim, ambient lighting, heated front seats with lumbar adjustment and a 12-speaker sound system. A new Enhance Package ($8,700) for the xDrive20i and 20d adds the xDrive30i’s extra equipment.

A range of paints and upholstery options will also be available for the 2019 BMW X4, though BMW Australia is yet to announce them.
