Genesis GV80 2022: luxury four-seat version released in America, unconfirmed for Australia

The GV80 Prestige Signature edition has four captain’s chairs in its plush cabin

Genesis has quietly revealed a four-seat, ultra-luxury edition of its GV80 large SUV called the ‘Prestige Signature’ for the US market.

The biggest change to this premium GV80 variant appears inside its high-end cabin with the installation of a pair of rear captain’s chairs – matching the plush buckets up front – which feature six-way electric adjustment as well as heating and cooled ventilation.

The seats are finished in soft Nappa leather while the headlining in the Prestige Signature edition is upholstered in suede, and parts of its interior feature matte wood trim.

Sitting at the top of the range for the GV80 line-up in the US, the Prestige Signature has been kitted out with dark-coloured 22-inch alloy wheels, LED ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof, as well as a heated steering wheel and tri-zone climate control.

In the rear seat area, the seats are separated by a centre console which features a wireless phone charger, cup holders and an assortment of controls. A one-touch relax mode, vanity mirrors and power sunshades also feature.

Powering the GV80 Prestige Signature is a 3.5-litre twin turbo V6

Power for the GV80 Prestige Signature comes from a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre petrol V6 that produces 280kW of power and 530Nm of torque. It’s connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system.

In terms of safety, Genesis has a full safety suite onboard the GV80 which includes smart cruise control, forward collision avoidance assist, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, speed limit assist, a blind-spot view monitor and a surround view monitor.

Just 600 of these Prestige Signature models will be available for sale in the US priced from $77,200 (AUD$105,608), making it relatively cheap compared to a six-seat GV80 which starts from $86,700 before on-road costs in the US for the 3.5-litre twin turbo engine.
