Renault Australia adds Captur S-Edition to local lineup

Renault Australia has added a new edition of its Captur small SUV to the local lineup. Just 162 units of the 2019 Renault Captur S-Edition will be offered locally, priced from $32,990 drive away. Using a more powerful 110kW/250Nm 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine, the Captur S-Edition is more than the usual sporty appearance special edition as it offers comfortably more power and torque than the standard 88kW/190Nm Captur 1.2-litre turbo.

The Captur S-Edition also offers special 17-inch alloy wheels, a two-tone metallic paint finish with a black roof, front and rear skidplates and extra standard equipment on the inside.

Priced from $32,990 drive away, the Captur S-Edition also adds more standard equipment onto the Captur Intense on which it’s based, including an alcantara and leather seat upholstery combination with blue stitching, which is carried over to the armrest, steering wheel, gear lever and handbrake. The S-Edition also features Renault’s R-Link 2 infotainment system, a Bose sound system, blind-spot monitoring with front, side and rear parking sensors.

Centrepiece of the Captur S-Edition is the engine, however. Co-developed with Mercedes-Benz and featuring in an Australian-spec Renault product for the first time, the new 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine makes 110kW of power at 5,250rpm and 250Nm at 1,600rpm. Renault claims that the Captur S-Edition uses 5.4L/100km on a combined cycle, which is curiously 0.4L/100km less than the 1.2-litre Captur Intense.
