Extended ‘Touring’ version of BZ4X midsized electric SUV will bring 280kW AWD performance as well as a a bigger boot
The BZ4X Touring has been unveiled as Toyota’s most powerful SUV yet, and it’s coming to Australia in 2026.
Toyota’s latest fully electric vehicle is an extended version of its BZ4X midsized electric SUV, which is gaining some major updates for late 2024.
Serving as the Toyota version of the Subaru Trailseeker, which itself draws inspiration from the popular Outback that has seen great success in Australia despite its station wagon-like shape.
The BZ4X Touring features a rear overhang that’s 14cm longer than the regular SUV, a move that increases boot capacity by 30 percent.
Toyota doesn’t quote a specific volume for the Touring, but based on the regular BZ4X’s 441-452L figure the Touring is set to offer more than 560L of boot space.
The Touring will feature the same (larger) 74.7kWh battery as the upcoming upgraded BZ4X.
The Touring, however, will be offering in just a single “flagship” spec with a dual-motor output of 280kW.
While the MY26 BZ4X AWD will increase power by 92kW, its maximum output is 252kW.
The single-motor FWD BZ4X will have 165kW (up 15kW).
Toyota Australia says the BZ4X Touring is “one of the next battery-electric vehicles to be offered” by the company, suggesting at least one other new EV will be released before then.
