Chery Omoda E5 2024: first full-electric Chery specifications confirmed for Australian release

 

More details emerge for the 150kW electric Omoda E5 SUV that will launch locally by mid 2024 


Chery Australia has today confirmed that it will bring a fully-electric version of its existing Omoda 5 small SUV to Australia this year. 

Named the Omoda E5, the Chinese brand’s first electric SUV for Australia is due on our shores by the middle of 2024. 

The Chery Omoda E5 will join several new affordable electric SUVs, such as the BYD Atto 3 and upcoming BYD Seal U, along with mainstays such as the current MG ZS EV

The Chery Omoda E5 will have a 61kWh battery pack

Chery’s first electric vehicle for Australia will join its combustion cousin, the Omoda 5 small SUV, as well as the Tiggo 7 Pro midsize SUV and the upcoming Tiggo 8 Pro Max due in April 2024

Exact pricing for Australian-delivered Omoda E5s is set to be announced shortly.  

What you should know about the new Omoda E5 model

Starting out with the powertrain and battery, the Omoda E5 will use a single electric motor located on the front axle that produces outputs of 150kW/340Nm

Power and torque is rated at 150kW/340Nm from a single electric motor

The new Omoda E5 is set to feature a 61kWh battery pack and will be able to travel up to a claimed 430km (WLTP) on a single charge. 

The E5 will launch with two variants: Standard and Premium. Key specifications for the model so far include:

  • 12.3-inch curved display
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Digital instrument cluster
Larger 12.3-inch screens are set to feature

The Chery Omoda E5 could have similar specification features to its internal combustion twin, which includes:

  • Keyless start 
  • Auto tailgate 
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity 
  • Eight-speaker Sony sound system
  • Wireless phone charging 
  • Synthetic leather steering wheel and seats
  • Ambient lighting 
  • Front sport seats
  • LED headlights and daytime running lights
