BMW M2 2023: M performance parts revealed for next-generation RWD sports coupe

BMW’s M Division has prepared a range of performance extras for the next BMW M2 to make the sports coupe even sharper

BMW has revealed an array of performance parts for its latest, second-generation M2 sports coupe

Available at the launch of the M2 in April 2023, upgrades can be added to the coupe’s aerodynamics, powertrain, chassis and interior.

On the exterior, the M2 can be fitted with additional carbon-fibre parts such as more defined side skirts, side fins and carbon-fibre exterior mirror caps can be added to the vehicle.

The rear diffuser, lip spoiler, rear wing and roof-edge spoiler can also be specified in carbon-fibre.

At the front, owners will be able to add features such as a carbon-fibre front splitter and, under the bonnet, a carbon-fibre air intake.

BMW has produced a lightweight exhaust system as an available option. BMW says that the new M Performance exhaust has “distinct race car acoustics” while also being lighter thanks to stainless-steel front pipes and a titanium rear muffler.

BMW claims that the exhaust is now eight kilograms lighter than the standard M2’s exhaust system.

The exhaust pipe layout has also been redesigned and features a stacked quartet of outlets. The system also uses ‘active’ exhaust flaps for added theatre.

Sharper suspension and custom wheels for the BMW M2

Available as an option on the BMW M2 is M performance suspension that includes adjustable coilovers that can be tuned specifically by the driver to ride up to 10mm lower than standard.

M Performance wheels are also available, with BMW claiming each one has been sculpted from a single piece of aluminium. The wheels are 20-inch units for the front and 21-inch for the rear. The wheels can be ordered in either gold bronze or jet black matte colours.

What M Performance parts can be specified for the interior?

As much as M Performance is about aerodynamics and theatre, the inside of the new M2 can also be customised.

A mix of Alcantara and carbon fibre can be added to interior trim pieces. If M Sport seats are specified, the backrest covers can be optioned in carbon-fibre and Alcantara.

A special M Performance steering wheel can also be added to the new M2 that is finished in Alcantara for the main grip area but has a leather-finished top and bottom section.

Carbon fibre shift paddles, door sills and optional carbon-fibre on the steering wheel can be applied to the interior, also.
