Ford F-150 2026: $163,000 Platinum grade returns to challenge Chevrolet Silverado, Ram 1500 and Toyota Tundra
Ford Australia has detailed a range of changes for its F-150 large crew-cab ute. The ‘Platinum’ grade returns, there’s a higher level of standard equipment for XLT and Lariat models, price parity for short- and long-wheelbase models, and increased prices across the range.
Prices for ‘MY25’ F-150 models start at $114,950 for the base XLT, up $8000 from existing MY23 stock.
This price is shared with the XLT long-wheelbase, up $7005 from the previous model, with Ford confirming that optioning long-wheelbase will no longer incur an additional charge.
Moving from short to long wheelbase increases the wheelbase and tub-tray length from 3683mm and 1705mm to 3988 and 2005mm, respectively.
The now mid-spec Lariat will start at $143,950, up $4000 for SWB and $3005 for LWB, while the range topping Platinum costs $163,950.
Australia’s ‘big American truck’ market is reasonably competitive, following the recent introduction of the US-assembled Toyota Tundra in November, 2024.
In base form, the XLT-rivalling Tundra Limited starts from $155,990, while conventional rivals Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Premium and the recently facelifted Ram 1500 Laramie Sport start from $134,500 and $141,950 respectively. All prices shown above are before on-road costs.
All three revised grades of Ford F-150 are expected to be available in early 2026, with local remanufacturing to begin imminently.
Ford will continue to offer just one engine across its updated F-150 range — a 3.5-litre ‘EcoBoost’ V6 turbo-petrol which produces 298kW and 678Nm. The V6 is mated to a ten-speed automatic transmission and a full-time 4×4 system.
Note that the base XLT F-150s uses a part-time 4×4 system. All model grades offer a braked towing capacity of 4500kg, a 137-litre fuel tank, and a crew-cab and tub-tray body.
Payload capacity also increases across the range. The XLT now rated to 853kg for SWB and 878kg for LWB, Lariat now 769kg for SWB and 794kg for LWB, and newly introduced Platinum rated at 704kg for SWB and 724kg for LWB.
Standard equipment levels for the existing XLT and Lariat will improve for 2026, with Lariat and Platinum models additionally gaining a powered ‘Pro Access Tailgate’ which can drop conventionally as well as swinging open, similar to the split bootlid on a first-gen Honda CR-V.

Only one optional extra, premium paint, is available for Australian delivered F-150 models, incurring a $750 premium. All paint colour choices are included as a no-cost option for the range topping F-150 Platinum.
