2019 Jeep Wrangler priced for Australia

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has announced Australian pricing and specifications for the new 2019 Jeep Wrangler. Priced from $48,950 plus on-road costs, the new Wrangler offers three model lines, two bodystyles and two available engines for buyers to choose from with Sport S, Overland and Rubicon models available in two- and four-doors and with petrol or diesel powerplants.

Two powertrains will be offered locally with a petrol V6 and four-cylinder turbo diesel the only options – the turbo petrol and diesel V6 offered in North America won’t be sold locally. The 2019 Jeep Wrangler goes on sale in April.

“The new JL Wrangler range offers something for everyone; whether customers are looking for the fully loaded all-new Sport S, the refined yet rugged Overland model or the Rubicon variant for the ultimate off-roader,” Mr Drelon said.

Priced from $48,950 plus on-road costs, the entry level Wrangler Sport S is equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, daytime running lights, automatic headlights, a reversing camera with rear parking sensors, push button start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a black ‘Sunrider’ soft top roof.

The Wrangler Sport S is available in both two- and four-door bodystyles and solely with the 209kW/347Nm 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The lack of active safety equipment is noticeably absent, with features such as autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control unavailable on the entry level model.

Next step up the Wrangler ladder is the Overland, which is equipped with the same V6 engine, as well as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert, a larger 8.4-inch touchscreen with inbuilt satellite navigation, LED front and rear lighting, front parking sensors, a 230V power outlet, remote start, a 9-speaker Alpine sound system and leather upholstery with an Overland logo. The Overland is priced from $58,450 plus on-road costs ($62,950 for the four-door).

The top of the local Wrangler range is the Rubicon, which is only available as a four-door and is priced from $63,950 plus on-road costs ($68,950 for the 147kW/400Nm 2.2-litre turbo diesel). The Rubicon adds a number of off-road focused equipment such as smaller 17-inch alloy wheels on larger 32-inch tyres, front and rear locking differentials, front stabiliser disengagement, a winch-capable steel front bumper, a rubicon bonnet decal set, a removable black hard top and heavy duty front and rear axles.

Jeep has confirmed that over 130 accessories will be made available for the new Wrangler when it launches in April 2019, while the Gladiator ute that is based on the Wrangler goes on sale locally in 2020.
