Suzuki reveals eVX electric SUV concept as potential Vitara successor

The concept was unveiled in India and uses a 60kWh battery that allows for an estimated range of 550km

Suzuki has pulled the covers off its latest concept car, an all-electric SUV called the eVX.

Unveiled at the Auto Expo in Delhi, India, the eVX brings a new vision for Suzuki, however we can clearly see inspirations from present models such as the Jimny and the Vitara

The brand says it is set to be introduced to the market by 2025.

Suzuki states that the eVX measures in at 4300mm long, 1800mm wide and 1600mm tall, making it most similar in size to the current Vitara small SUV that measures in at 4175mm long, 1775mm wide and 1610mm tall.

The eVX will use a 60kWh battery pack and is expected to have a range of around 550km.

“I am delighted to unveil the eVX, our first global strategic EV. At the Suzuki Group, addressing global warming is a priority.

Suzuki also told the media that a future EV would not be built on an ICE platform and instead would need to be constructed from scratch.

Could such a concept become a production version for Australia?

It’s very early to predict, however Suzuki Australia has already expressed interest in such an electric car for our market.

Suzuki Australia released a statement on the new concept, saying that “You can’t wipe the smiles off our faces. It is a BEV model which carries forward our legacy 4×4 DNA that we love and trust into the new electric era”.

This could be a sign that Suzuki is interested in bringing an electric car to Australia, however Australia is a much smaller market than India, for example, the latter contributing to more than 50 percent of Suzuki’s global revenue.
