Tasman
Vehicle type: Ute
Launch: July (dual cab), August (dual cab chassis), Q4 ’25 (single cab chassis)
Kia’s much hyped Tasman ute has been slated for a July launch to take on the Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger. The Tasman is packed with tech, a comfortable and well-thought-out interior, and serious off-road ability.
Initially, the Tasman will launch with a dual-cab body shape. A dual-cab chassis variant will further Kia’s utility product offensive in August, with a single-cab chassis version slated to launch by the end of 2025.
The Tasman features just one powertrain offering: a 154kW/441Nm 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel mated to a conventional eight-speed automatic. Both 4×2 and 4×4 variants of the Kia Tasman will be available upon launch.
Built on a ladder-frame chassis, the Tasman can carry a payload over one tonne (1124kg) and can tow a braked load of up to 3500kg. Inside the Tasman, you’ll find an electronic trailer brake controller, automatic rear locking differential, and drive selector for RWD, 4WD, and 4LOW.

Kia K4
Vehicle type: Hatch, Sedan
Launch: Q4 2025
Kia is furthering its offensive against the Toyota Corolla, Hyundai i30, and Mazda 3 with a new hatchback body style for its K4 small sedan. The K4 hatch will be available by the end of 2025, and will launch alongside updates scheduled for the K4 sedan.
We anticipate Kia’s planned K4 sedan update to include the addition of a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder paired to a CVT transmission – a powertrain better suited to meet 2026 NVES targets, and which has already rolled out in sister company Hyundai’s i30 and Kona.
The K4 hatchback promises to be sportier than its sedan counterpart. Its square, compact body shape is reminiscent of a BMW 1 Series or Mercedes-Benz A-Class hatchback. Expect the hatch to start at $30,590 (MSRP), in line with the base ‘S’ K4 sedan.
Equipment on the K4 hatch should be very similar to the K4 sedan. It will use the same integrated digital dash, climate screen and infotainment touchscreen as the sedan, which totals 75cm in unbroken length.
The K4 hatch will likely match the sedan’s two current powertrains: a 2.0-litre four-cylinder paired with a six-speed automatic and 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbo mated to an eight-speed auto. It has been confirmed that the K4 hatch will additionally debut with the aforementioned 2.0L engine and CVT borrowed from the Hyundai Kona.

EV4
Vehicle type: Fastback sedan
Launch: 2026
Due to arrive in 2026, Kia’s electric EV4 is set out to take on the Tesla Model 3 and BYD Seal, and is styled like a fastback sedan with pumped-up SUV undertones. A hatchback version is being produced and released in Europe, making it highly unlikely to see Australian soil due to increased logistics costs.
On initial release, the EV4 will be offered in two configurations: A base model with 58.3kWh battery and 430km (WLTP) of range, and long range model with 81.4kWh battery and 630km (WLTP) range.
Both EV4 variants use Kia’s 400V e-GMP electric car chassis, headlined by choice of either a 150kW single front-mounted electric motor, or dual-motor AWD that adds a 70kW rear-mounted electric motor. This platform supports a 10-80 percent DC charge time of 29 minutes for the base model, and 31 minutes for the long range.
Kia is lining up to launch the Slovakian-built EV4 hatchback into the European market soon, with official correspondence claiming a mid-year release. Production of the fastback EV4 started in South Korea in mid-March, with six variants officially on sale shortly afterwards. Expect the EV4 to kick off locally at around $50,000.

EV3 AWD/GT AWD
Vehicle type: Small SUV
Launch: TBD, 2026 expected
We were impressed with the Kia EV3 when it made its Australian debut earlier this year. Offered in four trims: Air Standard Range, Air Long Range, Earth Long Range and GT-Line Long Range, seemingly the only component missing from top-spec EV3’s was punch – offering a peak output of 150kW/283Nm to the front wheels across all models.
But coming to Australia in late 2025 or early 2026 is a solution to the EV3’s performance problems – an additional rear-axle mounted electric motor, which could see peak power rise to as much as 250kW in full-fat GT guise.
Kia has additionally confirmed a less-powerful, middle-spec EV3 AWD to bolster the model range. It’s likely that any potential AWD variant of EV3 will solely feature the larger 81.4kWh battery seen in current long range variants, and will cost more than the current range-topping GT-Line, which starts at $63,950 (MSRP).
Range figures will decrease slightly for AWD models – we anticipate WLTP figures around 520km for the mid spec and 470km for the GT flagship (if launched with 250kW output).
The Kia EV3 GT AWD will act as a smaller performance alternative to the current EV6 GT and upcoming flagship EV9 GT large electric SUV. Expect pricing to rise into the realm of $70,000-80,000 RRP for the GT, with a range of $60,000-75,000 expected for the mid-spec AWD.
EV2 – European Domestic Market
Vehicle type: Compact city SUV
Launch: European release 2026
Kia has confirmed a European release of the EV2, an all electric compact SUV designed to tackle the narrowest of city infrastructure. The EV2 is the smallest EV produced by Kia, positioned under the newly released EV3. It is marketed as an all electric alternative to the well established Kia Stonic.
Kia Australia chief product planner, Roland Rivero, revealed to Chasing Cars that “[Kia Australia] has got its hand up for as many EV products under the global planning strategy. But the EV2 might be one of the tougher ones [to secure for local release].”
The EV2 is produced in Slovakia to aid with keeping logistics costs as low as possible for the European market. With no free trade agreement between Australia and Slovakia, the EV2 is subject to a five percent import tariff, plus considerable logistics costs to ship the vehicles to Australian shores.
Kia EV2 and EV3 confirmed in two-strong small EV SUV attack
Stonic MHEV
Vehicle type: Small SUV
Launch: TBD, 2026 expected
The Kia Stonic will soon offer a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine and starter-generator-style mild-hybrid system to align the model with future NVES targets. In overseas markets, Kia claims the MHEV system improves fuel economy by around 0.7L/100km, and reduces CO2 emissions from 124g/100km to 107g/100km.
Kia additionally claims the Stonic MHEV’s peak power output will increase to 88kW/200Nm.
The Stonic’s plugless hybrid system, unlike the system featured in key rival the Toyota Yaris Cross, does not support EV driving. It instead offers a rolling stop-start feature, torque-assist for the engine when under load, regenerative braking and a ‘sailing mode’ which switches off the engine while coasting.
Expect pricing to start in the realm of $30,000 (MSRP).
