B10 small electric SUV from Leapmotor will become one of Australia’s cheapest when it arrives in November
Leapmotor has confirmed it will debut its B10 small electric SUV to the Australian market in November, with pricing to start from $38,990 drive-away for the entry model Style, and $41,990 drive-away for the range topping Design LR (long-range).
The sharp drive-away pricing for Leapmotor’s B10 undercuts better known rivals such as MG’s $40,490 S5 and BYD’s $39,990 Atto 3, as well as half-size larger $40,990 Geely EX5 and $49,990 Deepal S07. All prices shown are before on-road costs.
At $38,990 drive-away (DA), the B10 Style is almost uncontested for the crown of Australia’s cheapest electric SUV, challenged only by the $38,990 DA Chery E5 — that car, released in August last year, and saw a $6000 price cut just five months later.
And while the E5 can contend with the B10 in terms of peak power output, producing 150kW/340Nm to Leapmotor’s 160kW/240Nm, the B10’s ace in the hole is the prospect of rear-wheel drive, in addition to 91mm in overall length.
The Leapmotor B10 measures 4515mm long, 1885mm wide,1655mm tall, and drives on a 2735mm wheelbase.
In base Style trim, the B10 is built on a new ‘Leap 3.5’ 800V electronic architecture platform, featuring a 56.2kWh LFP battery. It claims a range of 442km, albeit measured on the typically less accurate NEDC testing standards.
AC charging peaks at 11kW, taking around six hours for a full-from-empty charge. DC charging peaks at 140kW, and takes a claimed 16 minutes to charge from 30 to 80 percent battery charge. (Overseas DC charging figures shown).
Stand-out equipment on the base model B10 Style includes:
Fronting an additional $3000 steps to the range-topping $41,990 DA Leapmotor B10 Design, which utilises the same 160kW/240Nm single-motor rear-drive platform and 800V architecture, but with a larger 67.1kWh LFP battery, bumping range to 516km (NEDC).
AC charging remains capped at 11kW, now taking seven hours for a full-from-empty charge. Peak DC charging increases to 168kW, taking 20 minutes to charge from 30-80 percent.
Standard equipment over the B10 Style includes:
All Leapmotor vehicles are sold with a seven year / 160,000km warranty, with Leapmotor high voltage batteries adhering to a separate eight year / 160,000km warranty.
