Introductory grade Hyundai Palisade Elite arrives with impressive equipment list and sharp $76,500 ask to apply pressure to rivals

Hyundai Australia has introduced a new eight-seat Palisade Elite entry model priced from $76,500 before on-road costs.

The Elite model grade drops the entry price to Palisade by $13,400 below the $89,900 Calligraphy eight-seat range-topper.

A captains-chair equipped seven-seat configuration for Palisade remains a $1000 markup exclusive to Calligraphy.

Both variants of Hyundai’s hybrid flagship feature locally tuned steering and suspension, all-wheel drive, and a sophisticated 245kW/460Nm 2.5-litre turbo-petrol dual-motor hybrid paired with a six-speed automatic.

Combined fuel consumption is earmarked at a respectable 6.8L/100km.

The introduction of an affordable, entry-level Palisade will help close the gap with key segment rivals such as the $71,930 Toyota Kluger GXL and $78,300 Mazda CX-90 GT

Hyundai also offers a 230mm-shorter Santa Fe from $54,400 to further pressure large SUV rivals. That car scales to $73,900 in equivalent range-topping Calligraphy seven-seater guise.

Cosmetic differences separate the entry-grade Palisade Elite from its costlier Calligraphy sibling. On the outside, Elite sports smaller 20-inch wheels (down from 21 inches), new-look front grille, black and silver side-skirts and front valence, and gloss black wheel arches.

Inside, the Elite features leather-appointed seats, foregoing a sunroof, suede roof and pillar trim, heads-up display, and electronic steering-wheel adjuster.

Interior features shared with the Calligraphy include tri-zone climate controls, a 14-speaker Bose sound system, and dual 12.3-inch displays

The Palisade Elite gains a comprehensive list of driver safety features, including blind-spot monitor, forward collision avoidance, lane-keeping assist, and more. However, remote smart parking assist and sensor-activated rear occupant alert remain limited to Calligraphy.
