Tweaked Geely EX5 gains larger battery, more driving range and steeper price
The Geely EX5 electric medium SUV has been updated for 2026, with a larger 68.4kWh battery — up from 60.2kWh — and $1000 price increase.
As a result of the larger battery, the Geely EX5’s driving range improves. The entry Complete is now capable of 475km (up 45km), while the top-spec Inspire musters 450km (up 40km). Both figures are WLTP.
The improvement won’t come for free — each model increases in price by $1000, now starting at $41,990 for Complete and $45,990 for Inspire, before on-road costs.
The updated Geely EX5 is arriving in dealerships now.
Despite the price increase, the Geely EX5 remains $10,000 cheaper than segment leading midsize EVs such as the Tesla Model Y (from $58,900) and BYD Sealion 7 (from $54,990).
The Model Y RWD features a 60.0kWh battery and 466km driving range, while Sealion 7 Premium features a 82.6kWh battery and 482km range. Both rivals are rear-wheel drive, while EX5 sends an unchanged 160kW/320Nm to its front wheels.
Aside from a larger battery, the Geely EX5 also picks up a standard-fit cargo blind and Mode 2 EV charging cable for charging the car on a three-pin socket.
The peak DC charge power remains 100kW, though Geely has not confirmed how long it will take to charge the new EX5 from 10-80 percent. It was previously around 35 minutes.

Dimensions for the EX5 remain unchanged at 4615mm long, 1901mm wide, and 1670mm tall, driving on a 2750mm wheelbase.
Geely continues to offer a seven year / unlimited kilometre warranty for its vehicles, with a separate eight year / unlimited kilometre warranty for its high voltage batteries. Up to seven years of roadside assistance is offered provided the vehicle is serviced adequately by a Geely dealership.
The Geely EX5 generated an impressive 3944 total vehicle sales in 2025, with the model debuting in mid-March. This year, the EX5 has so far shifted 415 units to January, 2026.
