Australian trim grades locked in for sub-$30K Chery Tiggo 4 Hybrid
Chery has outlined Australian market specifications for its newly released Tiggo 4 hybrid, which starts at $29,990 driveaway.
The Tiggo 4 hybrid mimics the two trim grades of its combustion-only counterpart, which last snagged eight place on Australia’s top ten best selling vehicles — put that down to low pricing.
Key features of the Chery Tiggo 4 Hybrid Urban include 17-inch alloy wheels, dual 10.25-inch driver cluster and infotainment touchscreen, four-speaker sound system, dual-zone climate control, LED DRLs and full driver assistance suite.
Stepping up to the range topping Tiggo 4 Hybrid Ultimate brings a six-speaker stereo, red painted brake callipers, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, powered sunroof, 15W wireless phone charger.
The sharply priced Tiggo 4 Hybrid Urban bests MG’s $32,990 driveaway ZS Excite Hybrid+ for the title of Australia’s cheapest small hybrid SUV. It can’t quite lay claim as Australia’s cheapest hybrid however – a title still held by MG’s $27,990 d/a MG3 Excite Hybrid+.
At the top of the Tiggo 4 pecking order sits the Tiggo 4 Hybrid Ultimate, which sports a reasonable $34,990 driveaway price tag.
This means the most expensive Tiggo 4 still outprices key segment rivals like the $36,480 Toyota Corolla Cross GX Hybrid, $36,500 Hyundai Kona Hybrid, and $47,165 Nissan Qashqai Ti e-Power, although that car boasts an EV-like driving experience. All prices shown are before on-road costs.
Chery’s Tiggo 4 hybrid commands a $6000 premium over its petrol-only equivalent. Critically, the differences between the two models are overall power output, kerb weight and claimed fuel economy, as outlined below.
