New Kia PV5 will soon launch with a starting price of $55,990 to become Australia’s cheapest electric cargo van
Long standing champion of the MPV segment, Kia, has set its sights on the electric cargo van segment.
Set to arrive in late May, 2026, the Kia PV5 will start from just $55,990, before on-road costs, undercutting fellow electric cargo vans the Peugeot ePartner (From $61,990), and Volkswagen ID.Buzz ($69,990), as well as combustion Ford Transit ($60,990) and Volkswagen Transporter ($58,590).
Over $15,000 separates the forthcoming Kia from China’s $71,490 Farizon Supervan and $67,358 LDV eDeliver7.
It will debut in sole Cargo S 4DR Long Range grade, built on a derivative of the well known 400V Hyundai-Kia E-GMP platform shared by the Hyundai Elexio and Kia EV5.
The PV5 features a 71kWh battery and drives the front wheels, with a rated driving range of 416km (WLTP). Combined power outputs, charging data, size and more remain unconfirmed for the local market.
Overseas, the Kia PV5 produces 120kW and 250Nm, and supports V2L up to 3.6kW (AC). Rapid DC charging from 10-80 percent takes 39 minutes, peaking at 150kW, while an AC charge from empty to full should take around seven hours at 11kW.
Expect the PV5 to measure 4695mm long, 1895mm wide, and 1923mm tall, with a 2995mm wheelbase. It should support a payload of up to 530kg, with a braked towing capacity of 1500kg and a maximum cargo load volume of 3615L.
Kia has additionally confirmed its PV5 will benefit from an Australian ride and handling tune.
Further information on the Kia PV5 Cargo will be released on Friday, 10 April at the Melbourne Motor Show.
All prices listed are before on-road costs.
