Jaguar has updated its large sedan and wagon range, with the 2019 Jaguar XF due to hit Australia later in the year. While the updates are small, they will mean a lot to some customers – Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are finally standard equipment, while new diesel engines join the range that already meet new European emissions standards being introduced in 2021.

But headlining the arrival of these changes is a new Chequered Flag Edition of the XF, which adds a number of sportier touches to distinguish it from lesser XF models.

“The XF Saloon and Sportbrake combine the elegance and exceptional performance which underline all Jaguars.” said Ian Callum, Jaguar Director of Design.

“Both XF models feature beautiful silhouettes giving them a dynamic appearance perfectly suited to the Chequered Flag badge.”

Centrepiece of the upgrades are upgraded diesel engines that already meet Britain’s new RDE2 emissions standards that will make them significantly less expensive to run for company car drivers in the UK to the tune of up to £2,304 over three years. To help their newfound thriftiness, many XF variants are now fitted with ultra low-resistance eco-friendly tyres that reportedly make the car 8g/km kinder in CO2 emissions.

Elsewhere in the 2019 Jaguar XF range is standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring through the standard smartphone package, which fixes a big issue with the XF currently.

The brand has also launched a Chequered Flag Edition of the XF, which follows on from the F-Type Chequered Flag with special equipment and unique touches such as a chequered flag on the side vents, unique door sill trims, sport bumpers, a rear spoiler, black 18-inch alloy wheels, R-Sport leather seats and aluminium dash inlays.
